Notes on the "Wind Jewel"

Short version: Amelia has a ship that can sail the planes but she's discovered a seal or binding on it. She doesn't trust the people who gave her the ship, so she wants the seal removed. The seal releases a celestial dryad who is the ship and awkward negotiations ensue.

Seimei's role can simply be breaking the seal and protecting Amelia's friend while Amelia calms the dryad.

Long version: So Amelia's canon is vague as to what she was up to before canon. All that's mentioned is that she ran away to the outer planes and spent many years there growing in power. I've decided to play with this and am stealing from the old D&D campaign settings Planescape and Spelljammer.

Having been instrumental in forging a peaceful trade agreement between ifrit and eldjötnar (Norse fire giants), Amelia was given a vessel which could traverse the ether between the realms (basically a Spelljammer ship). She currently has a crew of one, the princess who was supposed to seal the trade agreement by marrying the eldjötnar prince but ended up joining Amelia when her brother turned out to love the eldjötnar prince whom he wed so that his sister could be free to explore and adventure as she wished.

The vessel is actually a reshaped seed from Yggdrasil, which Amelia is beginning to suspect. She's also found sigils onboard which she's dispelled, certain they are spying devices for the ifrit. At the helm though, she's also discovered a binding. Not being an idiot, she hasn't quite decided what to do with it since she can't tell what is bound.

What is the binding? Well, that would be the dryad growing within the seed; technically a meliai. It is in a sort of forced hibernation and will likely come out of it upset. I had assumed she was a teen or an adult, but after our thread with YT, I've decided the meliai is a kid (seemingly 10 years old I guess) which fits with the ship being a seed anyway. Good thing Amelia has a spinning top to placate her with yes?

I really need to make character sheets for the ifrit princess and the meliai.

(no subject)

It is very important to land on your feet as soon as possible whenever entering a new city, especially when you are running away from the last one. Equally important was landing as close to the top as possible.

Fortunately, I had advantages. I was a mage and I was a dragon.

I landed in the court of an ifrit Sultan and quickly convinced him I could be a valuable ally. Of course, i then had to prove myself and so he sent me to negotiate the marriage of his daughter to a jarl of the eldjötnar. I had been worried this was a set up or at least would be a troubled negotiation but both parties seemed to want the marriage.

Except no one had asked the bride and groom to be.

The bride, and her brother, approached me privately and negotiated a bit of an addendum to the treaty. It turns out the bride was more interested in learning and exploring the planes while the brother and the groom were interested in each other. I was reluctant to piss off either parent, but the daughter, Fatima, was a shrewd negotiator and so convinced me.

All turned out well and now I was the proud owner of a celestial sailing vessel and a map which showed many of the naturally occurring dimensional vortices. I even had my first crew member, Fatima.

Where I would go next, I did not know. But first, I think I'd best take the time to meet my vessel, which I had decided to call the Wind Gem in honor of my grand father.
